RESOURCES
We are called to first be disciples of Jesus, and then to help others on their journey.
As a church Ephesians 4:12-13 says that we are to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
We know that discipleship is not a program but a lifestyle. It is a journey with God and with people. To help you on that journey, our church family has developed these discipleship books, “Believe like Jesus, Be like Jesus, Do like Jesus did”. While you could do these on your own we encourage that you do these with other members of your cell group so that you can discuss it and sharpen each other.
Book 1 - Believe Like Jesus
This first book is called ‘Believe like Jesus.’ As we journey to ultimately become like Jesus, we need to understand His beliefs. Belief is a powerful, capable of transforming us internally and externally, and altering our perception of life itself. Without a clear understanding of what we believe, cultivating genuine faith and trusting in God becomes challenging. Conversely, steadfast beliefs elevate our faith, enabling us to trust God even in seemingly impossible circumstances. This book aims to guide you in understanding the core beliefs of Jesus. In today’s world, we are taught that we should believe what we want, whatever is true to us. However, for Christians, the foundation of their beliefs is rooted in the Bible, which is regarded as God’s Word. The Bible provides an objective and unwavering source of truth, guiding moral and spiritual conduct. This is exemplified in the life of Jesus Christ, whose actions and teachings epitomise living in accordance with God’s Word. His life serves as a model of divine truth manifesting through compassion, integrity, and unwavering faith, leaving a profound impact not only during His earthly ministry but across countless generations thereafter.

Book 2 - Be Like Jesus
This second book is called ‘Be like Jesus.’ As we continue our journey with Jesus, this book focuses on who you are becoming. The world around us is trying to mould you into whom they want you to be. Social media beckons us to be liked by everybody; streaming services infiltrate our minds with ideas of whom we need to be popular, famous, and accepted by everyone. In Galatians 4:19, Paul expresses a longing for Christ to be formed within believers, indicating that spiritual maturity involves a deep internal change that manifests outwardly. This process involves surrendering personal will and allowing God’s Spirit to work within us, restoring and renewing our inner selves to reflect Christ’s character.
The devotions featured in this book are thoughtfully focused on the fruits of the Spirit, aiming to guide you through a meaningful spiritual journey. Our sincere prayer is that your daily Quiet Time with Jesus will serve as a catalyst for profound inner transformation

Book 3 - Do Like Jesus
This third book is called ‘Do Like Jesus’. It encourages believers to actively imitate Jesus’ daily actions and lifestyle. As believers grow in their faith, they are called to live out their beliefs through practical actions that mirror Jesus’ life. We encourage you to internalise these principles and apply them consistently in your daily life. True discipleship involves believing, becoming, and doing-each step building upon the previous one to form a complete picture of living like Jesus every day.
Spiritual disciplines played a crucial role in Jesus’ ministry, serving as intentional habits that fostered a deeper connection with God. These disciplines-such as prayer, fasting, solitude, and worship-were not acts performed to earn favour or approval but were vital practices that provided Jesus with the necessary grace, strength, and clarity to carry out His mission effectively. Engaging in these disciplines allowed Jesus to remain rooted in His relationship with the Father, ensuring that His actions and decisions were guided by divine purpose. For believers today, adopting similar practices can facilitate a closer relationship with God, enabling them to receive His grace and power for their own spiritual journeys and ministries.
