5 days of Prayer & Fasting

PRAYER AND FASTING GUIDELINES

We recommend two options for prayer and fasting:

The Daniel fast (VEGETABLES AND WATER)

Daniel 9v2: In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the scriptures, according to the word of the Lord given to Jeremiah the prophet that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.v3 So I turned to the Lord God and pleaded with Him in prayer and  petition, in fasting and in sackcloth and ashes. V4 I prayed to the Lord my God and confessed.

Or

A full fast – eat after 6pm in the evening (DRINK WATER WHILE FASTING). Remember that if you are on medication or pregnant please make sure that you eat before taking your medication and to rather fast something else that is important to you, like watching TV, Facebook/Twitter or eating sweets.

Prayer and Fasting is a set time that is set aside to get God’s attention, this can be done for personal reasons or for a joint decision for particular outcomes that have to be reached.

Joel 1 v 14: Declare a holy fast, call a sacred assembly. Summon the elders and all who live in the land to the house of the Lord your God and cry out to the Lord.

We have a God in heaven that understands and knows us therefore:

Hebrews 4V15-16 For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin. Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in the time of need

1 John 5 v 14: This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask any thing, according to His will, he hears us. V15: And, if we know that he hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have what we asked of Him.

Let us stand in the gap for the people we believe for. We need faith even if it is small as a mustard seed to pray, fast and seek God’s face. It takes people like you and me.

James 5v17: Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. v18 and again he prayed, the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

Let us believe for the “overflow” in all the areas we are bringing before Him. Let’s believe that He will open the floodgates of heaven and pour so much blessing that we will not have enough room for it.

We pray that you will be blessed as you stand with us and pray for our vision that will be presented to you. Let us believe together, for all that God has for us as individuals, and as a church, as we walk with Him.

2026 Prayer & Fasting – HARVEST

Monday, 26th Jan to Friday, 30th Jan

Monday, 26th Jan

1) A Heart of Compassion: Matthew 9:36 “When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.”

Before we can work the harvest, we must feel what Jesus felt. Let us pray for our hearts to break for what breaks God’s.

Prayer Points:

  • Ask God to renew our “God Cares, We Care” heart for Sea Point and beyond, praying for a fresh revelation of how much “People Matter” to the Father.
  • Repent of any indifference toward the lost in our communities.

Tuesday, 27th Jan

2) The Call to the Workers: Luke 10:2-3 “He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. Go! I am sending you…”

Isaiah 6:8 NIV “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!””

The harvest is ready, but it requires hands. We pray for the “Every Person” goal—that every member moves from a spectator to a disciple-maker.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for a “Yes” in the hearts of our people to be the workers who step up and out.
  • Pray for our Cell Leaders; ask God to give them fresh strength and vision for their cell groups.
  • Ask God to identify new leaders within our cells who can be discipled and sent out, to bring in the harvest.
  • Ask God for “divine appointments” this week where we can share the love of Jesus with a neighbor or colleague.

Wednesday, 28th Jan

3) Transforming Communities and Changing Nations. Focus: The Global Harvest: Matthew 28:18-20 NIV “Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Psalms 2:8 NIV “Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.”

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for the 2026 Vision to result in tangible growth: more lives saved, more cells birthed, and more churches planted.
  • Intercede for the specific challenges in South Africa, Mozambique and Zimbabwe —pray for the “Harvest” to thrive even in  difficult soil.
  • Declare that Life Church will be a light that cannot be hidden.

Thursday, 29th Jan

4) Social Justice: James 1:27 “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for the work of Life Child as they help the orphan and widows, for more partners and people to link hands in this important endeavour.
  • Pray for those in need and the marginalized in our communities, that we will see people restored and set free.

Friday, 30th Jan

5) Personal Prayer Needs: Philippians 4:19 “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.”

Prayer Points:

  • Pray for your personal needs that you are needing breakthrough in, and/or someone that you are standing in prayer for.
  • Pray for Godly wisdom, in all circumstances and decisions that you make this year. To be led by the Holy Spirit daily.
